Mirror Lake is one of the best kept secrets in Columbus. This tranquil lake is located on the Ohio State University Campus and is a peaceful getaway from the grind of daily life. The water is beautiful and relaxing on its own, but the fountain in the middle of the lake creates soothing ambient noise to add to the atmosphere.
Home to the hockey team Ohio State Buckeyes, Ohio State University Ice Rink serves as a state-of-the-art ice hockey rink with dimensions as per that of a standard NHL rink. This facility was constructed in the year 1961 and comprises of locker rooms, changing and warming rooms, a seating area with a capacity for 1000 and a pro shop. The basement of the rink is exclusive for the home team and houses the locker rooms and training facility for the Buckeyes. This is a perfect place to catch up on the latest ice hockey action in this part of the city.

Just a block off the action of the Short North section of High Street, Goodale Park is an inviting place to sit back and relax. The pond, with its fountain and gazebo, is the centerpiece, with folks lounging along its banks and kids playing at the edge of the water. Winding pathways throughout the park see a lot of use as well. There are baseball diamonds and a basketball court for those in need of a bit of organized sport.

The Columbus Topiary Garden is a topiary garden unlike any other. Whereas the average topiary garden collects a bunch of random figures doing random things, this one is a unified work. It recreates Georges Seurat's classic painting ‘A Sunday on the Island of La Grand Jatte’ in three dimensional shrubberies. Each life-size (if not larger) figure plays the part of a figure in the painting, and it is marvelous. An on-site museum will fill you in on the history of the park, the Old Deaf School, and the surrounding neighborhood. Hours are daily from sunrise to sunset.
The main branch of the Columbus Metro Library is many things. First and foremost, it is a library, providing the people of the city with the material they need to better themselves. Second, it is a stunning historic building, worthy of placement in a period film about a smart-looking library. Finally, it is am inviting event space, hosting an array of programming throughout the year, some aimed exclusively at children, some aimed at the general public.
The Franklin Park Conservatory is an institution. Serving Columbus residents and visitors since 1895, it has always been home to a premiere collection of exotic flora. The place has changed with the times, however, opening facilities for other educational and entertainment-oriented events. Today, it's famous not only for its plants, but also for its James Turrell light installation and its Dale Chihuly glass exhibition. Scioto Mile Park is an urban paradise located in the heart of downtown Columbus. Beautiful fountains provide a relaxing atmosphere and seating throughout the park allows visitors to stop and rest for a little while. The view of the city is uniquely beautiful and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic stroll or a family picnic.
A dual rink facility that features one NHL regulation sized rink and one Olympic sized rink, the only one of its kind in Ohio. Concession stands and the Blue Jackets Zone pro shop are also on site and skate rentals and locker rooms are available.
Hayden Falls Park is a charming nature getaway in Columbus. Located just off the Scioto River, this park boasts a lovely walkway that leads to a beautiful waterfall. The path doesn't have too many places to stop and rest, so be prepared for more of an active outing when spending the day at Hayden Falls Park.
Columbus Motor Speedway is an asphalt racing track located in Obetz near Columbus. The earliest motorcycle race was held at the speedway in 1946.
