Heritage Park is a beautiful space in the center of the city which offers locals and tourists a breath of fresh air and loads of fun sports and activities. The huge park has a pond in the center where people hang out. One can enjoy athletics, volleyball, softball or catch a theater performance at the amphitheater. Dogs and pets are allowed here too.
The Lilley Road Bridge stretches over the Lower Rouge River. The Massillon Bridge Company constructed the bridge from 1923 to 1924 in Canton Township of Michigan. It is significantly used for road related transportation. The full length of the structure is 90 feet (27 meters) and it was moved to its current location in 1933. It is of the camel back pony truss style and each side of the roadway of this eight-panel bridge features a cantilevered sidewalk.
The Henry W. Baker House is a fine Italianate structure in Plymouth, Michigan. This house served as the residence of Henry W. Baker, and is declared as a Michigan State Historic Site. This mansion was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The Rosedale Gardens Historic District is a historic neighborhood registered under the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. Stretching across eight streets of Livonia in the state of Michigan, most of the houses are one and a half story tall. The dwellings were constructed 1925 and also feature beautiful lawn areas. Over the years, the residents of the district have formed a tight knit community and the neighborhood often organizes various events.
The Henry Ford Square House is a private residence that is declared as a Michigan State Historic Site and is also on the National Register of Historic Places. This monumental mansion is also fondly called as the Henry Ford Honeymoon House.
The Livonia Civic Center Library is one of the largest in town. It features a plethora of interesting books and rare publications, and has wireless internet access. This public library is also the venue for an array of children’s programs, workshops, concerts and community events.
This charming little track in the western suburb of Northville is the winter site for harness racing in the Detroit area. Racing begins in October, as soon as Hazel Park Raceway closes, and continues to the beginning of April. With some exceptions, racing is five nights a week, with the track dark Wednesdays and Sundays. Bettors can wager on other races from around the country. Views of the track are better in the 3000-seat grandstand than in the 1500-seat clubhouse. The track has been in operation since 1944, but renovations have kept it modern-looking.
The Romulus Historical Museum and Park are great places to go if you need a place to repose. There is an on-site gazebo and sitting areas located throughout the property. The growing museum's main goal is to preserve the local history and always welcomes any contributions from the community, be they artifacts or donations.
Purchased by the City of Livonia in 1976, Greenmead is a historic farm that represents the agricultural legacy of Michigan. The site includes a historical village and many recreational facilities. More recently, it has also been used as an event venue featuring major events in the city.
Spread over a beautifully landscaped 108 acres (43 hectares), the United Memorial Gardens is located between Plymouth and Ann Arbor. Comprising of 30 individual gardens that are sprinkled with beautiful artworks in the form of mausoleums, memorials and such, the cemetery is one of the most prominent in the area. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, the graceful old cemetery established in 1929, extends its dignified vibe to the surrounding area.
Parmenter's Northville Cider Mill has a long history in the city of Northville. It's the second oldest business in the city and has been in operation since 1873. During a visit, sample as many apple products as you can, including caramel apples, apple butter, and apple cider. Gorgeous grounds contain beautiful trees and a stream where adorable ducks reside.
The Horizon Park is a great photo-opportunity to catch the splendid views of the sunset while sitting comfortably beneath green trees amidst pleasant flowers. There is a war-memorial here and the lake offers plenty of breeze and fresh air. Concerts and other events are also organized here from time to time.
