Bars & Cafes
Shenanigan's Irish Pub & Grill lights up the Brownsville nightlife. Part of a strip mall, the beer selection (25 different beers on tap) is outstanding and the music, which is often live, is rocking! And like the name suggests, a few shenanigans go down from time to time.
Whether or not the outlandish story told on the website about how Cobbleheads Bar & Grill got its name is correct (a boy got his foot stuck on a moving trolley and his head bumped on the cobbles), there is an element of fun at Cobbleheads that its name rightly reflects. There is a wide selection of food, try the pasta, a sizzler, and ice cream. Cobbleheads Bar & Grill is great place to unwind with cold beer and good food.
Housed in a welcoming red building, the Vermillion serves good food at a reasonable price. The Vermillion started as a hamburger stand in the 1930s, and has since expanded into the home where it now serves customers. Good service and the no-nonsense food attracted President Jimmy Carter in 2004, a picture of which can be seen on the website. Takeout is available, and the menu includes specials every day of the week, or try the nachos and fried pickles.

When it comes to blues, this is a great place to be. And, if you time your visit right, you might even catch the annual Blues on the Hill festival, held on a nearby hill.
