From this modern plaza you can see the buildings of the three governmental powers. The executive is represented by the presidential office (Palácio do Planalto), the legislative represented by the National Congress and the judiciary, represented by the Federal Supreme Court. Praça dos Três Poderes (Three Powers Plaza) was designed by architects Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. It was built in such a way as to harmonize the three powers. It is now one of the main tourist attractions in Brasilia, and also the gathering place for protests against the government.
