»Big Deal Burlesque Featuring Vagabond Swing

January 31, 2015 10:00 PM

Vagabond Swing is a progressive swing band from Lafayette, Louisiana that seems to have perfectly synthesized the horn-heavy, dance music from the 1940s with Eastern European rhythms and harmonies to create an interesting style of music the band likes to call "Gypsy Afro Circus Theater," or "Gypsy Swing." Not only has Vagabond Swing uncovered the key to creating music that is particularly boisterous and dance-friendly, the band members' raucous performances on stage add to the overall sense of excitement on the dance floor. The band has since developed a great reputation among critics and audiences throughout the US, and Vagabond's Swing's recent 2011 debut album Soundtrack to an Untimely Death is already making waves as one of the more original independent releases out of Louisiana in quite some time.
