Mardi Gras is one of the most happening clubs in Boise to groove the night away. This bar and nightclub has a historic dance hall and is the most sought after venue in the music community for live events. Famous acts like REM have performed here. The DJ spins some great tracks to keep you enthralled through the night.
When comedians come to Boise, they come to Liquid Lounge. This comedy club features some of the country's best comedians on Thursdays through Sundays. For those looking to break into the game, open mic Wednesdays and comedy workshops during the week are there to help you learn the craft. The bar features a good selection of beer, sure to make any comedian a little bit more hilarious. Check out Liquid Lounge's calendar of performers and prepare to laugh until it hurts.
Known as the "E-Club," the Emerald City Club is one of the largest clubs in Boise and regularly caters to people of all walks of life. DJs spin music from the 1970s to the present, but you won't hear any Stairway to Heaven here. Thursdays are considered Straight Night, but the venue insists, at least on the marquee, that "Yes, we are straight friendly." The dance floor is spacious and cocktails flow, but the beer selection is limited.
Dance to the rhythms of the night as you meet new people at the Gusto Bar. Popular with students, this dance club attracts a largely young crowd, Sip on cool concoctions and socialize or dance to one of the live acts. Lounge around on comfortable seats as you catch the action from a distance. Check out the website for more details on current and upcoming events. Bottle service available.
A great place to come for live music, this tavern is also a favorite bar among Boise locals. The interior is immaculate and charming, and local rock-'n'-roll favorites "The Rebecca Scott Decision" and "Fat John & The Three Slims" jam here regularly. There is limited seating, and a small dance floor. Downstairs is J.T. Toad's, another live music venue.
This rockin' place is located directly underneath Tom Grainey's Sporting Pub bar and provides an excellent outlet for Boise's rock and funk music scene. Boogie the night away to local disco band "$oul Purpo$e" or hear contemporary classics from other local bands. The club underwent a facelift in 1998 and created a more lounge-like atmosphere. So, if you don't want to get down, lie around. Or you can always head upstairs for a change in scene.
This popular bar is one of the veterans of Boise's downtown nightlife. Live blues and rock acts pound out cover tunes at this centrally located watering hole. The Rocci Johnson Band, an old mainstay, plays its own original tunes here. A balcony overlooks the stage and dance floor. Darts, pool and video games also are located downstairs. Despite a smattering of college students, the clientèle is generally 30 and older.
When you step into the Balcony Club, you will get a view for sure. Only the view is not picturesque, but Gothic Industrial! This bar has a variety of theme nights and entertainment events every week. Mardi Gras, Pride Fest, and White Party are a few of the hot events that attract huge crowds throughout the year. Check the website for upcoming events.
This downtown nightspot offers you no choice but to get your groove on. The charming long, narrow bar offers every cocktail from the classical martini to the modern "chili bomb." The stage in back is regularly visited by various local blues, rock and reggae bands. On occasion, the venue features more prominent acts. Open since 1993, this club provides ample seating. The bar has a colorful history dating back to 1902. The clientele, although diverse, is generally from late twenties to late forties.
Located downtown, Fatty's Bar is a popular watering hole among the local college students. Known for its budget friendly drinks and abundance of weekly events, Fatty's features beer pong tournaments, live music and karaoke to a packed house. Ask for your drink to be 'fatty size' and you'll soon learn how the bar got its name! Filled with a hospitable crowd, cheap drinks and lively events, its no wonder Fatty's is a local favorite.
Live music and a full bar welcome visitors to this painfully hip club. In addition to its often peculiar patrons, pinball, pool and Ms. Pac-Man fill the space of this dim, smoke-filled building on the periphery of downtown's nightlife. Bands range from obscure local musicians to the borderline mainstream variety. Other nights, DJs spin music and wannabe models strut their stuff at fashion shows. Check website for upcoming events.
Offering a beer for every season, this pub brews a variety of handcrafted beers, including the Maui Light for summer sippers to darker ales for winter tastes. The food menu also includes something for every month of the year from steamed clams to sausage served over red beans to Snicker Pie. Be sure to check out the photographs of Boise's oldest breweries. The restaurant also hosts a variety of live music events. Check website for upcoming performances. Open daily from 11a to closing.
