»Miller Park Pavilion & War Memorial

This unique landmark was restored in 1977 and is quite impressive with its rambling porches, chandelier lighting and interesting design. The Korean/ Vietnam War Memorial was dedicated in May of 1988 and is a black granite memorial surrounded by red sidewalks. These sidewalks include the names of Central Illinois residents killed or missing in action in the Korean and Vietnam battles.

The Miller Park Zoo is an ideal spot to visit, especially if you have children along. The rather small zoo engages visitors in an array of activities like animal rescue, animal adoption, classes for kids volunteer programs, hosting birthday parties and many other events. The zoo houses various local as well as exotic wildlife like tigers, bald eagles, seals, monkeys, kangaroos, frogs, bears, tropical birds, snakes and wolves. They also have a petting area and the volunteers are polite and helpful.

A vineyard that is operated and owned by the Hahn family, Mackinaw Valley Vineyard started as a small business venture in 1997, to blossom into an award-winning winery today. In 2002, the vineyard won the coveted ‘Vineyard of the Year’ award, by the Illinois Grape Grower’s and Vintner’s Association, and Paul Hahn, the main owner, won the ‘Winemaker of the Year’ award in 2003 by the same association.
