»Dax Riggs

April 18, 2015 9:00 PM

Growing up as a rock guitarist and vocalist in Indiana, Dax Riggs began his career as a member of various metal bands. Involvement with doom and sludge metal groups such as Acid Bath and Daisyhead & the Mooncrickets, helped Riggs hone his chops, and ultimately led him to discover a surprising amount of range in his voice, which would begin to take his music in other directions. With the intensity of his past projects still somewhat intact, Riggs' 2010 solo album, Say Goodnight to the World, nevertheless marked a shift in his sound. Heavy blues-rock and creepy atmospheric ballads set the tone of the album, but it's the sprawling wail of Riggs voice that quickly becomes the focal point.

»Nothing More, Islander

April 19, 2015 7:00 PM

Based in San Antonio, Texas, Nothing More crafts a progressively-leaning alternative rock sound. With massive rock and roll freak outs and sugary pop nuggets woven throughout each of its songs, the group has collected an international following since its formation in 2003.

»R. Kelly

April 19, 2015 7:30 PM

Despite a tumultuous career full of brushes with the law and more than a few stylistic missteps, R. Kelly has managed to solidify himself as one the predominant forces of contemporary R&B. Born in Chicago in 1967, Kelly initially entered the music world as a member of the early 1990s group, Public Announcement. It didn't take him long to decide to branch out on his own, however, and in 1993 he released his debut LP, 12 Play. Working within the scope of everything from lite funk and slow jams, to hip-hop and soul, Kelly's career has always retained a chameleon-like ability to adjust to evolving musical styles and tastes. Casual fans may know him as the singer of popular hits such as "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Ignition," but it's the stranger, more ambitious aspects of Kelly's catalog (such as his 22 chapter hip-hopera, Trapped in the Closet) that have kept him an intriguingly enigmatic figure well into the 21st Century. In addition to his solo work, Kelly has produced, remixed, collaborated with or written songs for the likes of Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston.

»Dirty Heads

April 20, 2015 9:00 PM

Dirty Heads is a reggae-rock band from Huntington Beach, California that was started after founding members Jared "Dirty J" Watson met Dustin "Duddy B" Bushnell whilst attending a high school party. After bonding over a sharedappreciationof music, the two would go on to recruit other musicians and establish a unique musical style for itself that blended elements of roots rock, reggae and hip-hop into a cohesive whole. Dirty Heads released its debut LP, Any Port in a Storm, in 2008 and the album helped attract a fairly young fan base that liked the sunny, beach-friendly vibe the group interjects into its music.
