The Architects of Golf lists Fred Bolton as the original designer of this 18 hole, par 72 golf course, although Russell Breeden has worked on the course. The course was built in 1932 and features Bermuda grass fairways and bent grass greens. A practice green, bar, snack bar, and fully stocked pro shop are on site.

The North Georgia mountains provide refuge for Atlanta's adventurous souls throughout the year, and a favorite destination is Hart State Park. A few miles north of Hartwell, off US-29, the park lies a convenient 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of Atlanta. This park lies a short distance north of Lavonia and Atlanta on Highway 328. It is well situated for an adventurous camping excursion. The park features 20 cottages, 108 tent and trailer camp sites, five primitive backpacking sites, seven picnic shelters, and one group shelter. Private boats and water-skiers are always welcome on the lake, canoes are available for rent, and fishing is permitted. Nature trails, a beach, tennis courts, and other amenities ensure that visitors will never lack new experiences.
