Dirtwire sits on the back porch of Americana’s future, conjuring up a gris-gris of sound with an amalgamation of traditional instrumentation, world-beat percussion, and electronic soundscapes. Comprised of multi-instrumentalist David Satori (Beats Antique) and Evan Fraser (Hamsa Lila; Stallamara), each performance brings the audience to a mysterious crossroads at an imaginative and seductive moment in time. The result is a rebirth of Americana and beacon for a post-millennial return to downhome goodness.

While Hot Buttered Rum might be a bluegrass band, the five-piece fuses elements from folk, reggae and rock and roll into its music, setting it apart from the other bands in the genre. The result of this fusion is a progressive style of bluegrass that has won the band headlining spots at prominent venues and invitations to some of the country's most respected bluegrass festivals. Since forming in 2002, the San Francisco Bay Area band has shifted its lineup and developed its sound significantly, but continues to grow its bi-coastal fan base.

Feeling the need to incorporate live instrumentation into the world of electronic music spurred Colorado-based multi-instrumentalist Dominic Lalli to create a musical project that would be just as engaging audibly as it would be visually. When Lalli decided to bring his drummer buddy Jeremy Salken into the mix, Big Gigantic was born. Releasing its first album, Fire it Up, in 2009, the duo established itself with a style of music that combines modern free-form electro with hip-hop beats to create an intelligent variety of danceable electronic music.

The cosmos must have been aligned above Portland, Oregon at the start of the millennium because the sonic star child that was birthed from this time and place is unlike most of the other drivel-inducing bands out there. The band's name is Blitzen Trapper and it plays a uniquely soothing form of folk rock that's unintimidating and well-suited to be heard in nearly every social environment. The band's acoustic guitars and harmonica bellows blend well with lead singer Eric Earley's raspy croon and the result is an extremely enticing sound that begs for repeated listens.
