    »Children's Farm Home School

    Previously a school building, the Children's Farm Home School was built in 1925 as a house for orphaned children and a school was also run on the premises, along with other facilities such as a dairy, cannery and farms. Funds were collected by selling off this produce. The Georgian Revival structure stayed abandoned for several years after being shut down in the 1980s. Now home to Trillium Family Services, the center features a family center, conference facilities, a restaurant as well as a museum.

    With acres and acres of hop plantation, the Rogue Farms Hopyard is located in the charming countryside of Independence. Owned and operated by Rouge, the beer barons of Oregon, this farmland grows fresh hop, which is used in the preparation of beers. Located on the site, is a tasting room, which serves some amazing brews, that are locally made by Rouge. Educational tours of the farm are conducted, for patrons who are interested in knowing how their beer is made, and what it comes from. The bar or the tasting room has a country feel to it, and welcomes children as well as pets. A lot of small bites, and local traditional food is also available to accompany your drinks. A visit to the Rogue Farms Hopyard will enlighten you in many ways, and also allow you to taste beers, that are not found anywhere else.     The Benton County State Bank Building was constructed in 1907 and since then served the community as a bank. Over the period, it was renamed several times and is also known as First National Bank of Oregon, First Corvallis Bank and Benton County National Bank. Through the time, additions and renovations were made to the building and is currently privately owned. Also, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
