»Hayes Carll

March 27, 2015 8:30 PM

Hayes Carll is a singer/songwriter from Texas. His deep, razor-sharp voice cuts right through his songs about characters from small towns in the American South. Carll writes characteristically biting lyrics and falls squarely into the alternative country genre. Though it took him years to develop a following, Carll finally released his debut album in 2002 and was lauded with critical acclaim. Many publications have compared him to late folk singer, Townes Van Zandt.

»Murder By Natural Causes

March 27, 2015 8:30 PM

Richard Levinson and William Link created "Columbo", "Mannix" and "Murder, She Wrote", but they never penned a mystery more fiendishly clever than "Murder by Natural Causes". Though a world-famous mentalist and astonishing performer, Arthur Sinclair has a weak heart that leaves him vulnerable to much more than cardiac arrest. So when he finds himself in the middle of a murder plot, he'll need all his strength -- to say nothing of his famed psychic powers -- to determine what's really going on. Originally a TV movie starring Hal Holbrook, "Murder by Natural Causes" now comes to the stage in a special production by Theatre Suburbia. Be thrilled, hoodwinked and delighted by a murder mystery from two of the genre's sharpest minds.

»Wood & Wire, Head For The Hills

March 27, 2015 8:00 PM

Anyone wondering about Wood & Wire's sound need not look any further than the four-piece band's name, which honors the purity of acoustic instruments and the gorgeous music a skilled artist can coax out of just simple wood and wire.Founded in 2011, Wood & Wire's core members are Tony Kamel on lead vocals and guitar, Dominic Fisher on Bass, and Trevor Smith on Banjo. Their sound, as Smith puts it, is "a modern take on traditional mountain, hillbilly, and country music". In just a few short years, the band has had the honor of playing notable festivals and venues across the country like The Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Old Settlers Music Festival. In 2014, they made their way across the country to play The Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill, NY and the IBMA Street Fair in Raleigh, NC before heading back home to Austin to play the legendary Austin City Limits Music Festival. In February 2013, the band released their self-titled debut album to much critical acclaim. In March of this year, the guys began work on their follow up album working again with Grammy nominated producer/engineer Erick Jaskowiak in Nashville, TN. Their second effort is a coming of age collection of original songs based on real and personal experiences with a coastal theme and is set for release in early 2015. While Kamel is the primary songwriter and vocalist, his tunes become Wood & Wire tunes when coupled with the talents, insight, and ideas of Fisher and Smith. The album will also feature an original song written and sung by Fisher and an eclectic instrumental composed by Smith. In the fall of 2014 they began working on a traditional project in which they recorded some of their favorite traditional songs, the traditional way – live, in one room, around one microphone. The first of many future volumes of this project will be released in December.Touring heavily to round out the second half of 2014, the band has recently enlisted the talents of Billy Bright on the mandolin. Billy is a veteran in the acoustic music world having toured with Peter Rowan for many years and worked with heavy hitting legends like Tony Rice and Vassar Clements.Wood & Wire is poised to have a another breakout year; as they bring fiery bluegrass footstompers and loose, acoustic jams to packed venues across the country, it'll be hard to say who's having a better time: the band or the crowd.

The cross-genre sound of Dopapod is the result of fearless experimentation and a disregard for stylistic rules. With a buffet mix of influences that includes electronic and indie, classic and alternative rock, the four-piece band from Brooklyn first captured its sound in 2009 with its debut album Radar. Critically acclaimed for its experimental finesse, the album set the standard high for Dopapod and the band responded with its 2011 live follow-up I Saw Live Dopapod Live Evil I Was. Though recorded live the record featured spliced and mixed multi-track recordings that demonstrated the bands mastery of both dubstep drops and guitar-powered rock. Dopapod released its second studio album, Drawn Onward, in 2011.

»All My Sons

March 27, 2015 8:00 PM

Written by legendary American playwright Arthur Miller, this was Miller's last attempt to write a commercially successful play. Inspired by true events, the play is about Joe Keller a man who is found guilty of knowingly shipping faulty airplane parts to the US military during WWII, which caused the death of 21 pilots. Keller is distraught with guilt and wants to convince himself that he did it all for the love of his family. Once he is found out he is shunned by his daughter and even his sons who once idolized him, begin to see him in a different light. As with many Miller plays, All My Sons expresses a deep criticism of the American dream and paints a devastating image of post-war American society.
