The Austin, Texas landmark finally made its way a little closer to the border. Chuy's 281 boasts decor that could most politely be called kitschy: painted wooden fish hanging from the ceiling, an enormous jalapeno pinata and framed black-and-white photos of other Mexican restaurants in the city, to name a few of the oddities. The food is delicious and, thankfully, not mainstream. Enjoy chicken enchiladas made with blue corn tortillas, "big as yo' face" burritos and the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo (a platter of oversized servings of enchiladas, tacos and queso).
Despite the amusing name, this chic chain-let of Sushi Zushi at Stone Oak offers an extensive array of creative raw fare at affordable prices. Artisan sushi that will please all palates, from the newbie, purists and explorer. A fusion of traditional Japanese and Latin American touches that is imaginative as well as a culinary treat. Must try's are the Cosimo Roll, Teppan-Yaki and Bora Bora rolls. Enjoy the cocktail mixes and other drinks with your dainty food.

You'll never realize when you've reached inside as the decor incorporates the outdoors look with paintings of skies and nature. The interiors at Alamo Café also extend to the courtyard, complete with a little pond and greenery. Seat yourself on one of the wrought iron chairs and take your pick from the Tex-Mex menu on offer. Sample the various tortillas, chips and fajitas. Don't forget to taste the apple-cinnamon empanadas.
Despite its somewhat obscure location to the north of San Antonio's city center, Jack's Bar successfully retains its regulars who unfailingly make their way here for the high-energy live gigs. The alcohol list is not too extensive but then nobody ever complains. With such a great atmosphere, friendly patrons and bartenders, a fun night out is assured. Mondays are karaoke nights so if taking to the stage is your thing, you know where to be!
Looking for a taste of that special wine? Maybe something from south of the border or overseas? Then you must try the Tasting Room. The list of choices changes weekly, but there is always something here to warrant a visit. You might try a new Australian flavor, or perhaps a favorite bottle from South Africa or South America. If you're looking for that special bottle of German Riesling or Italian Merlot, there's always a chance you'll find it here, too. Cooking classes are held on Saturdays and are open to the public. Wine-tasting classes take place on Thursday and Saturday nights.
The USP of the place is the variety they manage to keep in the music and also the environs of the bar. They also have a huge television broadcasting live sporting action and there's a video DJ as well. There are daily specials on the drink plus the staff is very friendly and there is an internet jukebox to play your requests.
In the city of cowboys and country music, Midnight Rodeo has managed to stand out for over two decades. This 20,000 square foot club is a thriving hot spot for San Antonio's youngsters, hippies and executives by day. If the 'patented race track dance floor' does not charm those who don't line-dance and 2-step, the bar specials (almost every night), free dance lessons on Wednesdays and Sundays and live Country music on weekends surely will. All that's needed to gear up for a party at Midnight Rodeo are tight jeans, a Stetson and a night of watching Country-Western reruns.
For over 30 years, the Old San Francisco Steak House has been a San Antonio tradition, serving some of the finest steak dinners in town. Although the restaurant is well known for its steaks, it has enhanced its menu to include fresh seafood and chicken dishes. One of the unique features of this restaurant is the girl in the red velvet swing. She entertains guests as she swings above them as they enjoy their meals. The peppered steak and 12-ounce rib eye are two of the favorites of local patrons, or try the spicy Jamaican chicken.
Since 1973, this restaurant has been a favorite place for celebrations and good times. The costumed servers are determined to make your visit an enjoyable one: the restaurant's motto is "Dine laughing" and the servers take it seriously. The menu features standard American fare, including steaks, rib eyes, grilled seafood and chicken, all served with fresh baked bread as well as soup and salad from the converted 1952 MG roadster salad bar. The Roman Orgy feast is a vast quantity of brisket, smoked chicken, baby back ribs and mounds of fresh fruit and vegetables. Eat it in the Orgy Pit, the Mineshaft or one of the other themed seating areas. Whatever you do, go determined to have a good time. Magic Time Machine draws a young crowd of diners and is a favored site for birthday parties. Eat, drink and be merry while being served by characters from popular films. Full bar of alcoholic beverages. Banqueting space available. Check the website or call ahead for opening hours.

The place caters to the sports enthusiast by offering drink specials, happy hour and a chance for you to watch your favorite team with your friends. Tex's also has a party room, which can be reserved and which seats up to 45 people. Tex's offers one of the finest all-you-can-eat prime rib buffets in town. If you're not in the mood for beef, you can try the seafood pasta or the roast turkey. If you want something a little lighter, the restaurant offers both a soup and salad bar and a baked potato bar. The Yorkshire pudding is second to none; if you're not in the mood for pudding, though, be sure to at least check out the full dessert display.
