Anchored on three ends by Foley's, Dillard's and Sears, Ingram Park Mall is a traditional mall that houses traditional stores as well as some Texas favorites such as James Avery. The food court offers a little something for everyone, and there are specialty food and candy stores surrounding it. From Monday through Friday, the mall opens its doors at 7:15a and allows walkers to use the mall as a "track". Don't try to do this after the stores open at 10a, though, because this mall is always busy.
From recent releases to timeless classics, For Your Entertainment stacks them all. Located at the Ingram Park Mall, the store is situated in between Macy's and Sears. The three most prominent sources of leisure i.e books, movies and music CD's form the majority of what's on offer. If not willing to spend a share on originals, you could scan the used titles on display and you might just find the one you're looking for. The store also ships its goods anywhere around the US.
This chain of stores bills itself as having "The World's Largest Western Wear Catalog" and it backs up this claim with a huge selection of western clothing. Featuring an immense collection of boots and hats, it also offers women's clothing, menswear, a large children's section, and larger-size clothing for both men and women. The store carries full lines of blue jeans and casual shirts, as well as dressier clothing to wear at the office or on a night out. Brands include Wrangler, Justin, Stetson, Carhartt, Rockies and Resistol. You will also find souvenirs and western accessories ranging from jewelry and rattlesnake skins to postcards and bolo ties. The store will ship internationally from its online catalog.
If you aren't a cowboy, at least you can dress like one. Cavender's Boot City carries everything you need—boots, jeans, shirts, belts and hats. To really blend in here in Texas, opt for Wrangler jeans, a Wrangler Brushpopper shirt and some Justin Roper boots. If you pick out a Resistol hat, be sure you wear straw from after Easter up until Labor Day, and felt after Labor Day all the way through to Easter. This location is not far from Far West Rodeo, one of the largest country and western bars in the city. How convenient! San Antonio offers two other locations as well.
This cozy little shop is full of lovingly made primitive and folk art items. The shop owners have created the majority of the inventory, which ranges from dolls to quilts. Dolls range from Santas to Angels and each one is tea-dyed and tattered to give it the illusion of being an authentic antique. There are also beautiful wall hangings, wearable art items and samplers fit for home use. If you don't find exactly what you have in mind, you can simply purchase the materials and pattern and make your own. There are even classes offered here. There is nothing plain about this shop!
Shop for secondhand books at reasonable prices at Nine Lives Books. Feel free to browse the shelves and take a seat on one of several cozy chairs to go over your selections before you walk up to the register. If you have gently used books, bring them in to sell and use the money towards an exciting new literary adventure. Their collection spans the most popular genres, so you're likely to find something you can't live without.
If you are looking for sheet music, there is no better place to look than at RBC. Whether for band instruments, guitar, piano or vocals, RBC carries the sheet music that you'll need. The store is hidden inside the Koger center off Loop 410, but once you find it, it proves to have an enormous selection of music books, karaoke tapes and musical gifts. From classical music to the very latest pop hits, the inventory of songs is amazing. How-to-play books are available for every instrument, and fake books are also offered to help you gain emergency musical knowledge. If you're not sure what sheet music you need, ask the staff. They'll do their best to help you find the right artist and songs.
Just a short drive out of the city, you'll find some of the best barbecue in this part of the state. Rudy's is housed in what resembles an old country store and the rows of picnic tables inside and out of the restaurant are filled with diners almost any time of day. After dining, wander through the general store to stock up on snacks. You can even fill up your gas tank outside.
This golf course, positioned over the hills of San Antonio, was built by the military as a nine-hole course. It is now an 18-hole private course. With difficult finishing holes and many water barriers, this golf course offers a challenging game for not just amateurs, but also the pros. Test your game skills and enjoy great views of the city that this venue additionally offers.
Crossroads Mall is known for two things: the theater, which brings San Antonio the kind of art-house films ignored by the monstrous 24-screen cineplexes popping up around the city and the Burlington Coat Factory. Bargain hunters will enjoy the mall for this store alone, but they will find more discount shopping at Super Target as well as the relatively "upscale" Steinmart, which carries brand names found at Dillard's and Macy's. Crossroads has a nice food court and a beautiful fountain that features jazz music during the summer weekends.
