Irwing to the town of Homewood, the Irwin Community Center is fully equipped for pre-school classes for toddlers, several art rooms, a fully equipped kitchen to make sure you don't go hungry, and even a band shell which is located right outside the center in Irwin Park. The park itself is a lush green expanse of beautifully mowed grass where you can take a stroll or walk your dog. The center is often used to host events and concerts as well as concerts. It boasts of the Jacobethan style of construction and is a former personal abode in Dyer, Indiana in the United States. After a 10-year, $2 million community fund-raising effort, this 1,200 seat auditorium opened in December 1995. These massive funds, along with $6.2 million in state matching grants, have produced an excellent venue that has showcased the diverse talents of performers like the Flying Karamazov Brothers, Paula Poundstone and the Chicago Jazz Ensemble with Kurt Elling. Resident companies include The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, The Park Forest Singers, The American Dance Center and The Suburban Youth Symphony. Plenty of free parking space is available.
Don't mistake it for a mosque, as this dome like structure is one of the city's oldest theaters.
