»Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary

Sit under the trees for shelter while admiring the spring migrants, such as singing hummingbirds and colorful warblers, and listening for the faint whisper of the rolling creek. Edith Moore herself lived on this land for 43 years. In 1978 she donated a small section to the Houston Audubon Society for use as a nature preserve for birds. Her husband even built the little log cabin that was renovated to house the headquarters, bookstore, and gift shop of the Audubon Society. Donations are appreciated.

Houston Farm and Ranch was founded in 1947 to promote agriculture and ranching in the local community. With time, more and more people became involved in it. Various events like dog shows and games keep it alive with activity. A golf club—with an interesting name, Hold Them and Hit Them—offers golfing facilities. Houston Farm and Ranch raises money for youth and education through these activities. Also check-out the Hot Sauce festival celebrated here. »Karbach Brewing

Karbach Brewing has been brewing and serving Houston since 2011. The brewery turns out craft brews in several categories: the "starting lineup" of regular year-round beers, the "seasonal lineup", limited release beers and their "F.U.N Series." Favorites from Karbach around the city include the Hopadillo IPA, Weekend Warrior Pale Ale and Karbachtoberfest to name just a few. Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons come in to the brewery for a tour. Admission price gets you a souvenir glass and four drink tickets. In addition to the brews, open house days also see food trucks come in to the drinking area so you can soak up a little of that beer.

Being home to a number of cowboys, it is not surprising that Houston recently added a horseracing track to its list of attractions. Built in 1994, Sam Houston Race Park hosts ten races a day and can house 20,000 spectators.
